Starting Sept 1, 2026, you will have to do livescan fingerprints in order to renew your CCW.  This will make the price of the renewal go up.  The state hasn’t told anyone what that amount will be yet, not even the agencies that provide CCW’s.  The Tehama County Sheriff’s office has told me that they will start doing the live scans earlier than Sept. 1, as to make sure people dont go expired or have to resubmit if the CCW renewals dont get processed by Sept. 1.

So, if you are within 90 days of your expiration, you might think about taking class early if needed this time to save you some money.  You can not take class before 90 days of your expiration though.  Class fees will remain the same as they have been since January  1, 2024.  

My next two classes are July 12, and August 9, and both currently have spots in them if you want to get into one of those classes.  There will more than likely not be anymore classes before Sept. 1 unless I get a hoard of people and can actually get another day at the range in August.  PLease plan ahead!

On a another note, 3 year length CCW’s (instead of two years) will start on January 1.  If you take a class on or after January 1, 2027, your new permit will be a 3 year permit.  This will be some cost savings for you starting next year.
